A quick update

We have been busting our butts to finish up our new shop and got close(still needs the rear wall and overhead door installed).

I caught a ride on an 08 stock Busa so Carl has been pretty busy going over it and getting it ready. The next thing a good friend of ours is going so Carl has been helping him prep his bike. As a result the Heavy Bus was running a little (alot) behind schedule. Today was going to the last minute thrash which Carl is famous for doing, when his tooth went over the limit. He has been fighting a pretty bad tooth for about 4 or 5 days trying to get the bikes ready and refusing to take anything other than aspirin. Well last night it woke him up and today the Dentist had to pull it so we are exactly a day behind. Looks like tuning at the Track. We did get RamAir scoops installed, and new Maps downloaded so hopefully he will feel better tomorrow and we can get some work done at the Hotel.

Anyway hoping to see everyone there Look for the EXTREMEBUSA Logo to find me. I PROMISE to post pics Saturday!

GoPro

I know it’s been a while but I finally got SRAD to put a little mileage on his new Birthday present. The GoPro digital onboard camera. He got this last month and we have been dying to get it on the bike. What with work family and building a new shop(doing all of the work ourselves) time has been tight. These are just a few real quick clips shot either on his lunch break or right after work just to get an idea of how things were going to work. He tried 3 positions on the RC51 the tank the right side and the tail. Then I tried it on my GSXR-750 mounted pretty low on the left. I must say the video seems clearer(less vibration hhmmm I wonder why?) and quieter on the GSXR. Anyway look for some on board cam footage very soon and I guess since I’m letting surprises out I’ll go ahead and tell you we have Power Scoops ram air scoops to install.

See you soon!

Build your own wheel balancer

We have been promising a wheel balancer for a few weeks, well here it is.

This was built from scrap. Left over 2″ X 4″ pieces, a few cut pieces of channel a few scrap brackets and some junk bearings.

I realize Harbor Freight sells one for $50 and it’s nicer but times are hard and $50 is alot of money. Bearings came out of old Alternators that SRAD scraps at work(stripped for aluminum and copper) But skateboard bearings would work just as well. Scrap wood was framed up to be square and level then screwed together with Drywall screws. Next the angle brackets were screwed to the top
With 3.5″ screws. Next step is bolting on the bearing carrier which is just something SRAD found 2 of in the scrap bin and drilled to fit.

Lastly the bolts that the bearings run on are duplicated in several lengths so that different widths of wheel can be done. Extra bolts and bearings are stored below.

Texas Test Track

OK no promises yet! This is still just in the discussion stages but, It seems possible that we MAY be able to gain access to a certain Texas Test Track. Carl spoke with the owner about me doing some testing maybe twice a year. So he sounded positive and sent us to the Company Leasing the facility. Carl spoke with “The Man” there who again seemed very positive but referred us to yet another company who is involved in some type of testing at the facility. So Carl spoke with him today and although we had a very good discussion and he seemed genuinely interested the out come is 50/50. They have been approached on more than one occasion by motorsports groups wanting to hold Races and have declined simply due to liability issues. After discussion of what we are doing what our goals are, offers of disclaimers and releases of responsibility, there is a fair chance. The cool thing is he gave us the Track Managers name and contact info and gave us the Go Ahead to go out meet with the track Manager and inspect the Track to see if it’s usable for our testing. Read Ride the track at low speed POSSIBLY. So stay tuned I should know more by mid next week and possibly have some video of the place.
