The Texas Mile… Day 3
Oct 28, 2008 Random
Okay! This is the for reals the week up to the Mile and weekend and the trip home has just about killed me. So by the time I went through pics, cropped, resized, and uploaded to photobucket it takes quite a bit of time. I’m not dragging this out just to be a tease.
So I ran 147.994 but the GPS showed 158. HMMMM. Well the very first thing after checking the GPS and making a funny face Carl started going over the Bus. Checking the brakes, the safety wire, fluids, tires, everything. Basically the shakedown run not only gave me a chance to feel out the track and gave Carl a chance to feel out the Bus. Hmmm, that doesn’t sound right does it?

The Texas Mile… Day 2

So as you know everyday should start with a wholesome healthy breakfast. Or a Raceday Sammich! I don’t know, it’s a Carl thing! That the ONLY thing he will eat at the track! Superstition, secret plan, or just silliness. I don’t know.
Pay close attention; this is the EXACT moment when things started to go wrong! We will talk about that more laters.

Enroute to The Texas Mile

The plan was to leave Thursday after work It just didn’t happen and by the time everything was loaded and ready 12ish we opted for an early start Friday morning. And this is how THAT went:
- Oversleep a few hours (8am’ish) get off to a late start.
- Realize that we forgot the power converter for the laptop computer.
- Next realize that we have forgotten the antenna for the laptop GPS map system
- Arrive in San Antonio hours late. Carl hits some railroad tracks and spills a brand new Mexican Coca-Cola (you know the ones from Mexico with REAL Sugar ). A double tragedy; 1st the mess all over the truck and second it’s the only one in the cooler!
Fortunately Brent Von A – a really nice guy we met on one of the boards – waited around all day for us to arrive and then helped us install the undertail on the Bus. Brent wanted a stock rear fender and I needed to ditch the shovel So we made a straight trade. Brent mailed us out his undertail, Carl painted it the night before we left. They both installed it in the trailer while I hung out and played catch with Brent’s dog JT. He’s the coolest black Lab on the planet!

Another photoshoot!
Oct 11, 2008 Random
Saturday was REALLY busy we had about a zillion things to do and didn’t get to most.
My dad is a professional photographer and does sports, portraits, ads etc, etc. I asked him about doing some shots for my sponsors that they could use in ads whatever. So Saturday afternoon and Saturday nite we did pics. Here are a few Carl snuck over dad’s shoulder while he was shooting.
Hope you like them.

I’m Baaack!

Well I guess life is what happens when you’re not racing. We got the bike out and the very first thing I noticed was that the swingarm spools had been used on my GSX750R for the photoshoot we did with the local Newspaper.
So lets get them back on the Bus.
