Well as I mentioned earlier, running a 2.5lb bottle with around 800psi I was running out of volume and pressure. A quick phone call to Guy Caputo of Tiger Racing resulted in him sending me one of his cool under the hump 2lb bottle mount kits! He also has a cool under hump glove box. This thing is well thought out and very affordable.

Just remove your stock passenger set pan and latch, bolt in the new catches and latch mount, add the foam tape for a tight rattle free fit.

I put a little duct tape in there so it wouldn't scratch my bottle which is held in place by velcro tape. Now if you were the sneaky type no one would really have to know you were on the dope.

<img title="SHHHH! Be Vewy vewy quite!
I guess I could always say “sure I’ll race without using the Dope” then pull the swingarm bottle!

With 4.5lbs on tap now running low on volume is no longer an issue. I should be able to pull all the way out the back door without problems. Also I scored an automatic bottle heater from a local drag racer (thanks to Mike Nichols). All of a sudden the HeavyBus is starting to look more like a NASA Space Shuttle!

At the SportBike Extravaganza that I promoted in May, we had a Top HP Shootout. I really didn’t feel like I should enter as the Title Sponsor and Promoter, plus I paid for the Trophies, I don’t want that stuff in my way! But at the end of the day after I handed out first and second place trophies, people kept coming around asking if or when i was going to dyno the HeavyBus. And of course you know there was NO WAY I was going to let 2 Kawasaki’s go home and tell everyone how they beat all of the Busa’s. so I Loaded up the HeavyBus and let her rip! With the 2 bottle setup and 950psi it laid down 218hp! I’m pretty happy and the numbers seem to be right in line with what Nitrous Express has told me. I’m going to be running around 1100psi of bottle pressure in October at the Mile and re-geared for 210mph and 215mph so hang on! This all started out as “ExtremeBusa.com heads for 200mph”" well not anymore! Hang on guys as We head for 210mph or 215mph!

A quick note here, we are not rich, just the average Middle income working family like most of you. It has taken a huge investment in time, labor and money for me to get a certificate and a T-Shirt. I could have never done this without the support of some great Sponsors:
George Faris and ExtremeBusa.com, FamilyPowerSports.com, Brock’s Performance, Nitrous Express, GenMar Bar Risers, Tiger Racing, and last but not least all of my readers/fans/friends! I have over 55,000 internet views on forum boards where I post about racing, tons of views on YouTube and Facebook, and the television show teaser. Sponsors love exposure so each and every one of you have really been the ones to get me this far and keep me going, because without the readers there wouldn’t be any Sponsors, so thank you everyone!

There’s more to come!

I’ve been away for quite a while with family issues and Land Speed Racing, but I figured I better drop in and get everyone up to date on Texas’ largest sportbike rally.

Last year attendance was down (blame the economy) with just under 1,000 bikes showing up. We are hoping to see everyone make it out this year. So, here’s whats going on.

We were informed by the promoter that after 6-years he was quitting. With no one to take over that meant the end of the largest sportbike rally in Texas. So Carl and I talked and we decided to step up and take over rather than let the rally die! It’s been a hand full to say the least, but I’m hoping some of our southern friends can make it.

FamilyPowerSports.com is bringing out their new portable dyno for a top horsepower shootout and charity dyno runs. So bring those bad Bikes and and lets see what you got! Dyno runs will be on a donation basis

For the first time we will vendors; so buying patches, gear, helmets, etc is an option.

FREE is still our favorite price! No charge to get in!

Free camping!

Free to enter the stunt show!

There will be raffle tickets on sale.

All proceeds go to the Iraan Senior Citizens Center and the widow and 2-year old son of “Busa Dave” Hardy who died of Liver Cancer recently.

Hope to see ya’ll there!

Carl forgot to Video the Golf Cart but here is my first real DragRace! After 2 practice passes solo I lined up against this guy J Vela. He ran a 7.52 to my 7.85. Pretty cool but I’m still stressing the launch pretty bad. The HeavyBus was still geared for LSR (Carl says that was a good thing) and had very little pull in 1st (plus I was launching pretty easy) but every pass it broke loose in 2nd.

I haven’t figured out the burnout thing yet so Carl has to do the burnout then hand me the HeavyBus. The one pass I made with out a burnout scared the daylights(and something else) right out of me it spun through 3 gears and wouldn’t hook till I rolled out in 3rd! Any way now that I have the first time under my belt the butterflies aren’t so bad!

I’m going to try this Drag Racing thing one more time! We tested the Golf Cart with a new motor yesterday and it stood straight up! It also ran close to 80MPH!

The owner and one of the Guys are setting up the wheelie bars right now so if things stay dry at the Drag Strip I should get to run it. I’m also taking the HeavyBus for a few passes to see how I’m going to like Drag Racing a Bike. I measured the stretch last night I THOUGHT it was 6″ turns out it’s 8″! A little longer than I though but that should hold the front down.

The last two times I went to the Texas Mile I ran an IVAN’S T.R.E. (Timing Retard Eliminator). Suzuki uses a signal from the G.P.S. (Gear Position Sensor) to tell the ECU the Bike is in 6th gear. The ECU then retards the timing to prevent the bike from running above 186MPH. The T.R.E. Tells the ECU that the Bike is in 5th gear all of the time allowing it to pull as far as the engine has power to pull. The problem is this equals a rough idle in neutral and less than optimal mapping because the ECU is running the 5th gear map in all gears.

So after some research We have decided to run the Boost By Smith De-Restrictor. The De-Restrictor tells the ECU the correct values in every gear until 6th which it then tells the ECU is still 5th. Eliminating the top speed restriction without the shortfalls of a T.R.E.. Also the price is considerably cheaper about $30 US. The De-Restrictor comes in two Models one for Suzuki’s with a gear position read out on the Dash and those without a gear indicator. If you have a bike with a gear indicator the De-Restrictor with a switch on it is the one you want. This allows you to turn it on or off which makes the Gear Position readout on the Dash read normally and leaves the speed restriction in place until the switch position is changed.

This is our friend Hugo he is headed to the Texas Mile Land Speed Races with us. I ran his stock 08 Busa in March to a best of 182MPH. So hopefully with the DeRestrictor it will run bigger numbers. Hugo offered to use his Bike for the Install pics so here we go.

Hugo and the De-Restrictor, compared to the business card you can see it’s pretty small overall just some plugs and wire and a switch all in abrasion resistant sleeve.

Off with the seat and then up with the yank (if you need more detailed instructions on this get help! You need it).

Once the tank is up this is what your going to see on the left side of the bike (most Suzuki’s are going to be the same as the Busa) there are two white plugs under here with 3 wires each.

Now here’s the trick, one of these plugs goes to the Fuel pump/Fuel Tank, The other one goes down to the G.P.S. so you want to unplug the one that DOES NOT go to the Fuel tank! Now just plug the De-Restrictor into the two sides of the plug you just undid.

Pretty simple so far right? Should look like this.

At this point a good test to make sure the De-Restrictor is plugged in correctly is to turn the bike on and shift it through the gears(you may have to rock it back and forth to get it to shift) OR you can have a buddy help you pull the clutch in start the bike and shift it through the gears.

If you have plugged it into the correct plug your gear indicator will show 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and then when you shift into 6th it will display 6th for about 1 second then the display will read 5th! IF it displays 6th gear and doesn’t change back to 5th try flipping the switch.

Just like that your Bike is now De-Restrcted. The next and final step is deciding where to mount the switch. When we did Terry’s Busa we drilled a small hole up near the front of the inner fairings out of sight. Hugo chose to go a little more stealth by placing it in the trunk.

So just like that you just eliminated the top speed restriction on your Suzuki.

Now for the disclaimer:
This is probably illegal, immoral, unethical, environmentally irresponsible and should only be performed on racing machines which will never see use on public roads. Furthermore is you do this install and ride your bike at it’s max speed it’s not my fault if you crash, explode, become addicted to speed or blast a hole into the time space continuum resulting in the end of Mankind.

Happy riding!
